PMX not the type to sweep problems under the rug, says Ramanan

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's leadership has been praised for his transparent and hands-on style.

Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk R. Ramanan described Anwar as a leader who does not "sweep things under the rug".

Ramanan became a deputy minister when Anwar announced a cabinet reshuffle in December last year.

The PKR deputy information chief said he had always known the finance minister's style of leadership for a long time before he was appointed as deputy minister.

"I have been under Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's leadership for a long time, not just a year.

"The most important aspect of his leadership is the visible changes he brings.

"Traditional methods of sweeping problems under the rug are not his style. Instead, he confronts issues directly and faces problems head-on," he told a press conference here.

He was asked to comment on Anwar's leadership after joining his cabinet for almost a year.

On Dec 12 last year, Anwar announced a cabinet reshuffle with Ramanan being appointed as a deputy minister, alongside Datuk Ewon Benedick as Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister.

Ramanan added that Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister has always been an open-approach governance, emphasising transparency in addressing issues.

"Our prime minister's approach is one of transparency. He does not cover up or push aside issues.

"Under his ministry, any wrongdoing is addressed promptly, regardless of whether it's within the Finance Ministry, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry or elsewhere.

"You can see that the man leading us is very transparent, not like a wolf in sheep's clothing, pretending to be happy while doing wrong things behind the scenes. Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is not like that," he said.
