Former Nuri pilot wins RM1 million in BSN SSP draw

ALOR STAR: A retired Royal Malaysian Air Force's Nuri pilot is on cloud nine after he was announced as the winner of a RM1 million prize in the Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) Sijil Simpanan Premium draw.

Mohd Azhar Mohd@Man, 53, from Guar Chempedak, Yan, said he did not expect that his consistency in saving via the SSP with BSN since 2000 would land him such a whopping reward.

"Actually, I was only dreaming of winning a car when I started saving with the scheme. There were times when I had to withdraw some of the savings but I made sure I reinvested and I did it consistently. Alhamdulillah I am grateful for this.

"I have won several times in previous draws but just a few hundred ringgit. I initially thought it was a scam upon being told that I won RM1 million.

However, after being contacted by the BSN staff, I realised it was true," he said with a broad smile after receiving a mock cheque for the prize money from BSN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Awang Adek Hussin.

Azhar plans to share the windfall with his wife and children as their savings, besides settling his loans and performing the umrah.
