TNB brings cheer to three families in Kedah

YAN: For the past decade, 55-year-old Ahmad Rodzi Harun, 55, has been praying that he could afford to build a house for his family on a piece of land he owns in Kampung Sungai Lintang, Sungai Limau here.

However, the father of one said it was almost impossible to achieve his dream due to his income as a Kafa teacher at SK Ulu Sedaka.

His prayers were finally answered after Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) approved his application to build a three-bedroom house under the national utility company's Baiti Jannati project.

"I am very grateful for this approval. Finally, I will be moving into my own home with my wife and daughter.

"I wish to extend my utmost appreciation to TNB and its staff for being very helpful," he said after being visited by Kedah/Perlis TNB general manager Wan Ishak Soed.

Rodzi said he was now looking forward to moving into the house with his wife Masturoh Jamaluddin, 44, a homemaker, and their seven-year-old daughter.

Meanwhile, Wan Ishak said he had presented a letter of approval to the contractor to build a house for Rodzi's family at a cost of RM83,000.

He said for this year, TNB had approved three house construction projects with a total cost of RM300,000 under the company's Baiti Jannati programme in Kedah.

"The other two recipients are from Pokok Sena and Alor Star. All recipients met the 'asnaf' conditions set by the state's Lembaga Zakat and own a piece of land big enough to build a three-bedroom house with a kitchen and living hall.

"Under the Baiti Jannati's corporate social responsibilities, TNB has approved an allocation between RM70,000 and RM90,000 for each eligible applicant to build a house.

"For this year, TNB has approved 58 applications for the project," he said after presenting a letter of approval to the recipients today (Aug 14).
