KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Navy vessel KD Pendekar sank at 3.54pm today, two nautical miles southeast of Tanjung Penyusup, Johor.
The RMN, in a statement, said salvage operations were still underway.
"The swift actions of the maritime community successfully rescued all 39 crew members of KD Pendekar before the ship was fully submerged. No injuries have been reported. The crew is now safe and has been relocated to KD Sultan Ismail, Tanjung Pengelih, Johor.
"RMN assets have been mobilised to the location to monitor the situation and ensure environmental safety," it said.
It also called on the public to refrain from spreading unverified information about the incident.
Updates would be provided through official RMN channels, it added.
