Israel-Hizbollah skirmishes: M'sians in Lebanon told to be cautious

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians in Lebanon have been urged to exercise caution, refrain from travelling to the country's south and stay updated in the situation via reliable news sources.

This follows the exchanges of fire between Hizbollah and Israeli forces recently.

The Foreign Ministry, in a statement, said it was actively monitoring the situation.

"Reports indicate that these activities were focused and concentrated only in southern Lebanon. Beirut's international airport continues to remain operational, with several flights being disrupted as a precaution.

"The overall security situation in other parts of Lebanon remains stable," it said.

The ministry also said members of the Malaysian Battalion (Malbatt 850) serving as peacekeepers under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) remain safe and away from the immediate conflict zones.

Wisma Putra also advised Malaysians there who have not registered with the embassy in Beirut to do so immediately via https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my/

For consular assistance, they can contact the embassy, located at Lot 170, Saad Zaghloul Street, at +96171380063 and +96176772527, or email it at mwbeirut@kln.gov.my.

The ministry said it will continue to provide updates to ensure the well-being of all Malaysians in Lebanon.
