No new mpox cases, says Dr Dzul [WATCH]

PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has completed screenings for 25 individuals suspected of having monkeypox (mpox), with all results returning negative.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad confirmed that there had been no new positive cases of mpox in the country since December last year.

"We had nine cases last year, but at the moment, there are no new positive cases," he said after witnessing the memorandum of understanding signing ceremony for the Malaysia International Healthcare Megatrends 2024 conference.

Dr Dzulkefly said the ministry was strengthening border controls and has activated testing labs.

On Saturday, he said that between Aug 16 and 22, the government had screened 1.8 million travellers at all entry points, following the activation of the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre.
