Video allegedly shows KL City Hall MPV stuck in 2nd sinkhole

KUALA LUMPUR: A video has recently emerged purportedly showing a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) belonging to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) stuck in the second sinkhole in Masjid India here.

The 28-second video showed the MPV tilting on one side. As the video went in for a closer look, the front tyre on the driver's side could be seen stuck in a hole that had formed on the road pavement. Someone also shone a torch light at the vehicle tire.

Although there was no confirmation from DBKL, the MPV is believed to be parked on the site when the second sinkhole appeared early Wednesday near the Masjid India police post.

On that same day, DBKL issued a statement confirming the incident.

It was reported that the new sinkhole had emerged about 50 metres away from the first sinkhole that appeared last Friday and swallowed a tourist from India.

This new sinkhole was just in front of the Masjid India police post, which was confirmed by Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner of Police Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman.

Shortly after the second sinkhole appeared, police cordoned off the entire span of Jalan Masjid India.

The junction near Wisma Haniffa was closed, and vehicles and pedestrians were not allowed to enter the road.
