Penang CM ready for court showdown with Kedah over water dispute

GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow is ready to face his Kedah counterpart in court over the ongoing raw water supply compensation dispute.

Responding to Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor's intention to initiate legal action, Chow said, "Let him go ahead. I will see him in court," he told the New Straits Times.

Earlier today (Sept 2), Sanusi said that Kedah was preparing to sue the Penang government to seek compensation for raw water usage.

He said that Penang's insistence on legal action left him with no choice but to bring the matter to court.

Last month, Chow said that despite the issue being raised since 2010, the Penang state government had never received any formal legal claims from Kedah regarding raw water supply compensation.

He said that if the Kedah government was serious about its claims, they should pursue it through proper legal channels.
