GISB businesses in Kuala Perlis hit hard following police crackdown

KANGAR: Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings Sdn Bhd's (GISB) business operations in Kuala Perlis near here have been hit hard following the recent police crackdown in Selangor and Negri Sembilan.

Checks at several of its premises in Lorong Siakap 1 in Kuala Perlis revealed that people had stopped patronising their businesses over the past several days.

GISB operates a bakery, laundromat, cafe and mart in the area.

Although the bakery, laundromat and cafe were operating as usual, they appeared to be deserted by customers.

Checks also showed that the Ikhwan Mart branch was closed today.

An employee at the Kafe Ikhwan branch in the area, who declined to be named, said the company's businesses had suffered a serious blow since it was allegedly linked to child exploitation.

"It is true. Many of our customers have deserted our premises despite the fact that we are operating as usual. Yes, we are affected by the issue now," he said.

It was reported that police rescued 402 minors from alleged exploitation during the massive crackdown in two states on Tuesday.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain was reported as saying that the children aged between one and 17, were allegedly exploited and abused.

He said police had rounded up 171 individuals including caretakers, religious teachers and the chairmen of the premises during the raids.
