Subsidised prices for Tumpat Zone villagers

TUMPAT: About 4,000 villagers from the four islands of the Tumpat Zone will benefit from subsidised prices for essential goods under the Price Standardisation Programme (Necessities, LPG and Community Drumming) starting today.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry's state director, Azman Ismail, said the villagers are from Pulau Suri, Pulau Rejuna, Pulau Tokang and Pulau Sri Tanjung.

He explained that these villagers, living on remote islands, face challenges in accessing necessities due to limited transportation options. This, he said, often leads to higher prices for essential items.

With this programme, Azman emphasised, villagers can now enjoy subsidised prices for sugar, cooking oil, wheat flour, rice, liquid petroleum gas and RON95 petrol without the need to travel long distances.

He added that this programme in the Tumpat Zone is the third after similar initiatives in Dabong and Pasir Kelang, Kuala Krai.

The programme will continue until April next year.

The state ministry hopes that rural villagers will take advantage of this opportunity to purchase necessities at affordable prices, easing their financial burden.

In addition to the programme, the state ministry also held a mobile Rahmah Madani Sales event, offering 37 essential items at a 30 per cent discount compared with market prices.
