PUTRAJAYA: It is highly irresponsible for certain groups to manipulate religious and racial issues as weapons to weaken people who do not align with them, said Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar.
The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) said such actions would only result in the public becoming victims, as they were being fed with slander, provocation, and insults that harm social harmony.
"The spirit of unity within diversity, based on the Federal Constitution and the Rukun Negara, will shape a patriotic, tolerant, and responsible national identity.
"This is essential to strengthen the well-being of the society, which is a core value of Malaysia Madani," Na'im said in his speech at the national-level Maulidur Rasul Celebration 2024/1446H, today.
The King and Queen of Malaysia, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah graced the event held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).
Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Na'im said the Maulidur Rasul celebration holds great significance for Muslims.
He emphasised the importance for Muslims to appreciate and practice the teachings left by Prophet Muhammad, based on knowledge and wisdom.
"In conjunction with this year's celebration, the government has adopted the theme 'Al-Falah: The Catalyst for Malaysia Madani' as a foundation for all levels of society to embrace.
"For the first time, in conjunction with the national-level Maulidur Rasul celebration, the Madani government held the 'Malam Cinta Rasul' last night, featuring various programs.
"This aims to nurture love for the Prophet, in line with the Prime Minister's vision to continue promoting Islamic values in this beloved country," he said.
Additionally, he called on all Muslims to remain united in praying for the well-being and safety of the people of Palestine.
"We also pray for the Palestinians receiving treatment at the Tuanku Mizan Armed Forces Hospital, that they may be granted health and recovery," he added.
