KANGAR: Zakat (tithe) funds can be used to support the children of Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holding (GISB) former members, ensuring they can return to proper schooling and not be left behind in their education, Perlis mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin said.
In a post on his Facebook page today, Asri said funds collected from tithe can also be used to assist former members of the entity in starting fresh.
"This way, we not only help them leave behind their previous lives but also provide them with an opportunity to embark on a true and righteous path," he said.
Meanwhile, Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli said the state government constantly monitors whether the group has any movements or activities in the state.
"In Perlis, we found GISB does not operate through religious education centres, childcare facilities, or hotels.
"They are seen to operate only through their business entities at several premises in Kuala Perlis, such as grocery stores, bakeries, and laundries.
"They also previously owned a cattle farm in Chuping, though it has been left abandoned.
"As such, we will continue to monitor and ensure that all activities linked to this entity are kept in check," he said.
