SINGAPORE: Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi has unveiled plans to boost Johor's business ecosystem by streamlining procedures and making the state more attractive to investors.
Speaking at the National University of Singapore Society's 70th anniversary lecture, he said Forest City was the first to house an Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre outside Kuala Lumpur.
The centre aims to ease the processes for businesses to establish operations in Johor, and is part of broader efforts to position the state as a key investment hub.
"This initiative will strengthen Johor's standing as a premier destination for investors," Onn Hafiz said.
In addition to business reforms, infrastructure upgrades are also underway to support the development of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone.
Key projects include the expansion of highways from Johor Baru to Desaru in Kota Tinggi, and from Kulai to Ayer Hitam in Batu Pahat, which will improve connectivity.
Onn Hafiz told the audience in jest that the expansion of the highways stopped at Ayer Hitam to ensure Singaporeans did not leave the state.
"We don't want you to go too far… we want you to stay in Johor," he said.
