Home Ministry to provide watermark-free task force report to Pastor Koh's family

KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry will provide a copy of the special task force report on Pastor Raymond Koh's disappearance without any watermark to his family and their legal team.

The ministry, in a statement, said it is undertaking this following the advice from the Attorney-General Chambers yesterday.

"The Special Task Force Report is a document owned by the Malaysian Government, subject to the Official Secrets Act 1972 and the Security Directive (Review and Amendment 2017).

"The report presented to Koh's family and legal team is the original, unaltered report, printed on watermarked paper.

"The use of watermarked paper allows the government to identify the document's ownership in the event of any unauthorised dissemination.

"This matter has been reviewed in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Government Security Officer (CGSO) to ensure the security of the Special Task Force Report is maintained," the statement said.

Free Malaysia Today reported yesterday that lawyers representing Koh's family in their lawsuit against the government and the police had complained that they were unable to read the contents of the task force report on his disappearance, alleging that the document had been tampered with.

Last month, the court ordered the government to provide Koh's wife, Susanna Liew, with access to the task force report.

Liew had filed a lawsuit in 2020 against the police, the Inspector-General of Police, and several former high-ranking police officers over Koh's disappearance. She seeks to hold the authorities liable for his unlawful abduction and for misfeasance in public office.

The report has been classified as a government secret.
