Yayasan Bank Rakyat extends aid to former journalists facing health struggles

KOTA KINABALU: Three former journalists in Sabah who are currently facing health issues received assistance from Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) during the Sabah media dinner last night.

Among them was Joseph Bingkasan, the former head of the Sabah and Sarawak NST Editorial Department based in Kuching.

The other two were former New Sabah Times chief editor for the Bahasa Melayu section, Mohd Amin Muin and former Daily Express journalist, Barnard Yaang.

The assistance was presented by YBR chairman Datuk Philip Lasimbang during the dinner, which was also attended by general manager Syaiful Rizal Abdul Ghani.

In his speech, Philip said YBR's initiative is part of its annual efforts to assist those in need while maintaining close ties with the media.

"We will always remain committed and will diversify our strategies to help improve the socio-economic well-being of Malaysians through educational development, community empowerment and healthcare assistance," he said.

He also acknowledged the media's role as a vital platform in today's world for sharing information through electronic, print and social media platforms.

"I hope that the collaborative relationship between media partners and YBR in Sabah will have a positive impact and help more people in Sabah."
