IPOH: A total of 13 deaths due to dengue fever complications were recorded up to Epidemiological Week 40 (ME40) in Perak, compared to only one case during the same period last year.
State Human Resources, Health, Indian Community Affairs, and National Integration committee chairman A. Sivanesan said 11 deaths were recorded in the Kinta district, while one death each was reported in the Larut, Matang, and Selama districts, as well as in Manjung.
"The cumulative number of dengue cases this year has also seen a significant increase, reaching 5,956 compared to 2,864 cases during the same period last year. This shows an increase of 108 per cent."
"The districts with the highest number of dengue cases are Kinta, followed by Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Manjung, Kampar, and Batang Padang," he said.
Sivanesan met reporters after launching the state-level Mental Health Day organised by the Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital Ipoh at Politeknik Ungku Omar here today.
In his speech, Sivanesan also said workplace mental health refers to the psychological and emotional well-being of employees, which plays a vital role in productivity, job satisfaction, and reducing absenteeism.
"Signs of mental health issues in the workplace include decreased job performance, inability to concentrate, and changes in behavior, such as increased dissatisfaction or conflict.
"Helping individuals experiencing mental health issues at work is an important responsibility to ensure their well-being."
He suggested creating a supportive workplace environment and encouraging employees to be mindful of their colleagues' mental health.
This would make it easier for those struggling with mental health to get the help they need.
