SEREMBAN: Some 400 children aged four to 15, linked to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISB) in Negri Sembilan, have been rescued following Operation Global, which began on Sept 11.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said that the rescued children were residents of charity and welfare homes operated by GISB in four districts: Seremban, Rembau, Kuala Pilah, and Jelebu.
"Some of these abandoned children are now under the care of the Social Welfare Department(JKM), while others are with their parents," he said.
"JKM has been tasked with continuously monitoring the development of these children, including ensuring they receive mainstream education," he added.
Aminuddin noted that all premises associated with GISB, including charity homes, madrasahs, and stores, have ceased operations in the state. He said the closures were voluntary and that staff members have gone missing.
"This is one of the developments today, and we will continue to monitor their progress," he said.
Previously, Negri Sembilan Mufti Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Faudzinaim Badarudin reported that GISB's activities violated laws and regulations, similar to the practices of the al-Arqam group, which was declared illegal by the National Fatwa Committee in 1994.
