Pahang's only flood-hit district Temerloh reports 193 evacuees

KUANTAN: Intermittent heavy rainfall has led to a slight rise in the number of flood evacuees in Temerloh, the only district in Pahang currently affected by floods.

As of 9.30am today (Oct 14), there were 193 victims from 54 families sheltered in four relief centres, compared to 66 victims from 18 families at two centres last night.

According to the Social Welfare Department's (JKM) InfoBencana application, three relief centres — SK Lanchang, Mempateh hall, and SMK Seri Semantan hall — opened yesterday, while Kampung Bongsu Mosque began operations early today.

SMK Seri Semantan hall is housing 110 evacuees, SK Lanchang has 36, Mempateh Hall has 28, and Kampung Bongsu Mosque has 19.

Additionally, 70 individuals from 12 Orang Asli families in Kampung Sungai Ruil, Cameron Highlands, remain at the Kampung Sungai Ruil Community Centre after their homes were impacted by landslides and mud floods on Oct 9.

Last week, these families were advised to temporarily relocate to the relief centre to facilitate cleanup efforts in their settlement.
