Supply Bill 2025 tabled in Dewan Rakyat for first reading

KUALA LUMPUR: The Supply Bill 2025 (2025 Budget) was presented for its first reading at the Dewan Rakyat sitting today (Oct 15).

The bill, which seeks to use a sum of money from the Consolidated Fund for services for 2025, was tabled by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said on behalf of the Finance Ministry.

"The second reading of the bill will be done on Friday, Oct 18, 2024," she told the Lower House today.

The budget, themed 'Ekonomi Madani, Negara Makmur, Rakyat Sejahtera,' marks the third budget presented by the Madani government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's leadership and is the final budget under the 12th Malaysia Plan (2021-2025).

According to the Dewan Rakyat calendar, the bill will be debated at the policy level from Oct 21 to Nov 5, followed by responses from ministers over four days.

The session will proceed with the committee-level debate on the bill from Nov 13 to Dec 3, before it is approved by the Dewan Rakyat.
