2025 Budget reinforces Johor's economic powerhouse potential, says MB

JOHOR BARU: The 2025 Budget, tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday (Oct 18), reinforces the state's potential as an economic powerhouse.

This, Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz said, follows several key initiatives outlined in the RM421 billion budget, including efforts to strengthen the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS SEZ) to boost the state's economic competitiveness.

"The Johor government also welcomed the continuation of several critical infrastructure projects, including the expansion of the North-South Expressway (PLUS), the Sultanah Aminah Hospital 2 construction, and the Flood Mitigation Plan (RTB), among others.

"We are thankful for the federal government's support, and we hope these efforts will benefit the people of Johor as a whole," he said in a statement, today (Oct 19).

Onn Hafiz said the upcoming Johor Budget 2025 will outline further initiatives and development plans aimed at providing greater assurance and prosperity to Johoreans.

"We are committed to the people's well-being and will continue to prioritise their interests," he added.

Yesterday (Oct 18), Anwar stated that the JS SEZ special incentives, which will help attract quality investors and create high-value jobs for locals, will be announced after the agreement is signed on Dec 8.
