Prioritise truth and justice over emotions, says Pas in Deepavali message

KUALA LUMPUR: In a Deepavali message to Malaysians, Pas urged the public to celebrate Deepavali with a spirit of unity and to prioritise "truth and justice" over "emotions, sentiments, or extreme, exaggerated behaviours and deceit."

Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said Malaysians should also be vigilant against agents of foreign interests that may undermine the nation's stability and unity.

"It would be even more unfortunate if some among us — albeit unknowingly — become 'Trojan horses' for 'foreign' ambitions and narratives, that if left unchecked, could not only erode but potentially undermine our own national interests and aspirations," he said in a statement.

He noted that such divisive influences carry an "inherently destructive nature" and warned against allowing them to disrupt Malaysia's social fabric.

"PAS urges all parties to continuously position and harmonise Malaysia's rich diversity of religions, beliefs and cultures within our national framework and landscape," he said.

Takiyuddin also reminded the public to stay cautious amid year-end weather conditions and extended holidays. "

We urge everyone to exercise extra caution, especially on the roads, to prevent any unfortunate incident," he said, wishing Malaysians a safe and joyous Deepavali.

He concluded with hopes that the prayers and well-wishes shared this season would "enrich the quality of life for us all," reinforcing Pas' commitment to a harmonious and resilient Malaysia.
