AMPANG: An e-hailing driver has lost his only means of earning a living after his car was damaged in a landslide here.
The Proton Saga car collapsed into a ditch along Jalan Maju 1/14, Lembah Maju, Pandan Indah in the early hours of Monday morning.
Adrian Untam, 44, said he parked his car at an empty parking lot about 9pm after he finished work on Sunday.
"I usually park my vehicle along this road as I stay with my family close by. I went to sleep and was woken up when a neighbour called to tell me about my car at 3.30am," he said when met at the scene on Monday.
The father of 3 said he rushed down from his apartment to check on his car and found it had overturned inside a ditch.
"I bought the car in 2022 to use for e-hailing and it has been the only source of income for my family. I am worried about how we are going to cope now," he said.
Another resident, Shaik Mohamed Sadiq Ali, 38, said this was the third time a landslide had occurred in the area.
"A similar incident occurred not too far from here last year while last month, a landslide occurred in the same spot.
"I hope the authorities will look into this matter urgently," he said, adding that residents were facing tough times looking for parking spaces.
He suggested that the authorities place concrete barriers along the affected area to stop people from going near it and putting themselves or their vehicles at risk.
Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said the district police control centre was notified about the incident at 4.35am today.
