PM launches Malaysia Pavilion at Shanghai expo

SHANGHAI: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched the Malaysia Pavilion at the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) here today.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang visited the pavilion, which was coordinated by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade).

Present at the launch were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and Human Resources Minister Steven Sim.

Also present were Matrade chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, Petaling Jaya member of parliament Lee Chean Chung and Ipoh Timor member of parliament Howard Lee Chuan How.

Mustafa said the Malaysian Pavilion aimed to boost the export of Malaysian products and services and to provide Malaysian companies with a platform to gain visibility and explore growth opportunities in the Chinese market.

"We are confident Malaysia's participation will bring significant value to both nations, fostering opportunities for innovation and strategic partnerships.

"Matrade's involvement at CIIE underscores our commitment to establishing Malaysia as a preferred global sourcing hub."

The Malaysia Pavilion features 16 exhibitors, which are among 3,496 exhibitors from 129 countries at the event.

The Malaysia Pavilion is supported by Matrade's strategic partners, Bank of China (Malaysia) Bhd, Petronas and Seri Pajam Development Sdn Bhd.

Key sectors showcased at the pavilion include electrical and electronics, agriculture, lifestyle, healthcare, ICT, e-commerce, creative content, business services and logistics.

Anwar also launched the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia's pavilion, which features Spritzer Bhd and Oriental Kopi Holdings Bhd.
