Waze language glitch leaves users baffled

KUALA LUMPUR: A sudden change in the language settings on the navigation app Waze has left social media users confused.

X user @wnaidanz highlighted the issue, which shows the application Waze Mobile Ltd, formerly known as FreeMap Israel, had its default language unexpectedly switch to Hebrew.

Other users commenting on the post reported similar experiences, with the issue affecting not only Malaysians but also users in other countries.

@LohongMinda said: "What's even worse, after trying to uninstall and reinstall, it (Waze) suddenly switched to various languages. One moment it's in Hebrew, then French, then Afrikaans."

"Mine too, I swear to God, it's super annoying. I had to switch to Google Maps for a bit. It even messed with my dark/light mode and my mile/km settings," added user @_dahlianabilah.

Another X user, @lucivaryas, confirmed that users in the United Kingdom and the United States were also experiencing the same issue.

Some users shared ways to change the language settings.

According to 'The Sun', a spokesman for the Google-owned app said they are aware of the issue and are working quickly to resolve it.

For now, no official statement from Waze has been released regarding the issue.
