Police identify 69 overseas premises linked to GISB, worth RM52.4m

KUALA LUMPUR: The police have identified 69 premises abroad, worth about RM52.4 million, belonging to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) Sdn Bhd.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain told Skuad Khas Harian Metro yesterday that these assets are spread across 15 countries.

Razarudin added that, as of Oct 31, the Malaysian police's strategic partners abroad have confirmed the location of 40 of these premises in four countries.

"We are in the process of confirming the location of 29 premises, believed to be in 11 countries, with our strategic partners," Razarudin said.

He added that the police have seized and frozen RM23.96 million worth of assets belonging to GISB.

This includes 259 vehicles with a total estimated value of almost RM4 million, as well as 19 lots of land worth RM11.63 million.

Razarudin said the police also seized two boats with three engines valued at RM1.3 million, 95 animals of various species worth RM463,820, and two watches worth RM600.

On a related matter, Razarudin said the police are in the process of completing their investigation, including tracking down several individuals believed to be able to assist with the case.

"Investigations are still ongoing, and we are in the process of locating several individuals," he said.

To date, Razarudin said police have opened 99 investigations since Op Global was activated.

For the record, a total of 22 investigation papers have been brought to court involving 82 charges, while 37 investigation papers were classified as no further action by the deputy public prosecutor.

Meanwhile, 28 are still under review by the deputy public prosecutor, and 12 remain under investigation by the investigating officer.

The National Council of Islamic Religious Affairs on Thursday had declared GISB deviant.

Its Muzakarah Committee Chairman Datuk Dr Nooh Gadut said the decision to declare GISB deviant was made following its meeting in September.

He said among the group's deviant teachings was its claim that Asy Syeikh Muhammad Abdullah As-Suhaimi or Syeikh Muhammad Suhaimi was the Imam Mahdi.
