Sultan Nazrin receives RM9.78 million in business tithe

KUALA KANGSAR: Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, today consented to receive the business tithe amounting to RM9.78 million from seven corporate entities.

Sultan Nazrin received the tithe on behalf of the Perak Islamic Religious Council and Malay Customs (MAIPk) at Istana Iskandariah here, today.

MAIPk chief executive officer Syamsul Hazeman Md Salleh in a statement said during the same ceremony, Sultan Nazrin also presented the appointment letter for MAIPk membership to the new state Education director Safuan Raba'ai.

This follows Safuan's appointment as state education director effective Oct 28, replacing Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Mahson, who retired in the same month.

The tithe payments began with Ipoh Specialist Hospital Sdn Bhd, represented by its CEO Badrul Hisyam Ibrahim, contributing RM1.06 million and Felcra Bhd, represented by its CEO, Datuk Idris Lasim (RM1.04 million).

Additional contributions included Koperasi Kemajuan Tanah Perak Berhad (RM128,523), Koperasi Warisan Pegawai Hutan Melayu Negeri Perak Bhd (RM423,276), Perak Water Board Air (RM4.7 million), Lumut Maritime Terminal Sdn Bhd (RM1.79 million) and Menteri Besar Incorporated (Perak) (RM650,000).

Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad; Raja Kecil Sulong Perak, Raja Datuk Seri Ahmad Nazim Azlan Shah Raja Ashman Shah; Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin; State Secretary Datuk Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim; and MAIPk President, Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini.

Earlier today, Sultan Nazrin also conferred state awards and medals on 153 recipients at the same venue in conjunction with the ruler's 68th birthday celebration.

The recipients today were among the 213 people awarded honours and medals in celebration of Sultan Nazrin's birthday, observed on Nov 1.
