Queen visits widow of Johor Royal Court Council secretary

KUALA LUMPUR: Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia paid a visit to Datin Safiah Aris, widow of the late Johor Royal Court Council secretary Datuk Abdul Latiff Yusof, who died yesterday.

Her Majesty was accompanied by Tunku Besar Zabedah Almarhum Sultan Iskandar.

"A Yasin recital and tahlil prayers were also conducted, led by Johor Mufti Datuk Yahya Ahmad," according to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's official Facebook page today.

Yesterday, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia and the Queen expressed their condolences on the passing of Abdul Latiff at the age of 71.

Abdul Latiff, who was also the former Johor state secretary, had an illustrious 36-year career in the Johor public service, which began in 1975 as an assistant land revenue collector at the Kota Tinggi Land Office.

Over the years, he held several significant positions, including Batu Pahat Municipal Council president, Mersing district officer, Kluang district officer, Muar district officer and Johor Bahru City Council mayor. – BERNAMA
