KUALA LUMPUR: Former Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun is among four individuals appointed as new members of the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) for a two-year term, effective Nov 1.
Also appointed were former Federal Court Judge Tan Sri Zainun Ali, former Sarawak Attorney-General Datuk Seri Talat Mahmood Abdul Rashid and Universiti Teknologi Mara law lecturer Associate Professor Dr Hartini Saripan.
The JAC Secretary's Office, in a statement today, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim made the appointment in accordance with Subsection 5(1)(f) of the Judicial Appointments Commission Act 2009.
"The appointment is for a two-year term until Oct 31, 2026," the statement read.
New members are appointed to replace Tun Md Raus Sharif, Tan Sri Suriyadi Halim Omar, Datu Abdul Razak Tready and Associate Professor Datuk Dr Shamrahayu Ab Aziz, whose term ended on Sept 3.
The JAC expressed its appreciation and gratitude for the service and contributions of Md Raus, Suriyadi, Abdul Razak Tready and Shamrahayu during their tenure as commission members.
