KUALA LUMPUR: Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the government is considering changing the lane for commercial vehicles at the Johor-Singapore border from Woodland to Tuas.
However, he said no conclusive decision was made during the Special Committee Meeting to Address Congestion at the Johor Causeway, Session Two for 2024, for that matter.
"The Transport Ministry would lead the discussion with the Singapore government (on the suggestion).
"A study is going to be conducted to examine the flow of commercial vehicle movements for the proposed plan and assess the feasibility of rerouting commercial vehicles," Saifuddin said after the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, Deputy Work Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and Deputy Economy Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib.
Saifuddin added that 22 initiatives outlined by the government to address congestion issues at the Johor Causeway have been implemented.
Ten initiatives are in progress, while another 20 initiatives have yet to be carried out, he said.
"The aim of these initiatives is to reduce congestion at the Johor Causeway.
