KUALA LUMPUR: An investigation into the death of a teen who was electrocuted on an express bus found faulty wiring.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke explained that wiring from the distribution box to the sockets was incorrectly installed and that the bus's electrical equipment failed to meet standards.
At a press conference, Loke added that uncertified personnel installed the equipment.
Operators have since been ordered to halt the use of 3-pin sockets and USB ports from buses.
Previously, Loke revealed the express bus company involved in the incident failed the Industry Code of Practice on Occupational Safety and Health for Road Transport Activities audit.
He said the company's operational permit would be suspended.
On Nov 1, Mohamad Nur Asymawi Jasmadi, 18, was electrocuted while charging his phone on an express bus at the Penang Sentral bus terminal in Butterworth.
