KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed the Madani government's commitment to prioritising the needs of the Malaysian people, as it marks its second year in office.
In a Facebook post, Anwar highlighted key achievements and ongoing efforts, including steady economic growth, enhanced social welfare programs, and improvements in governance and transparency.
"Alhamdulillah, yesterday marked two full years of the Madani government's administration, during which various shifts and reforms have been implemented to safeguard the people's welfare and elevate the nation to greater heights.
"However, our journey towards fully realising the Madani vision is far from over," he said.
Anwar said among the successes of the Madani government was the growth of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which recorded a 5.3 per cent growth in the third quarter of 2024 and the strengthening of the ringgit to RM4.26 against the US Dollar.
"The unemployment rate also dropped to 3.2 per cent in September 2024, marking the lowest level since the Covid-19 pandemic and over 34,000 hardcore poor households were successfully lifted out of extreme poverty through targeted initiatives," he said.
Anwar said Malaysia's ranking on the Global Safety Index rose to the 10th position in 2024, while its Corruption Perception Index, moved up to 57 in 2023 from 61 in 2022.
The government also reported a total trade value of RM2.1 trillion in the first nine months of 2024, surpassing figures from the previous year.
"Additionally, RM160 billion in investments was approved in the first half of the year, representing an 18
percent increase compared to the same period in 2023 with official trade and investment missions includes engagements with nations such as Singapore, Italy, Australia, Germany, France, Japan, India, China, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates.
"In terms of high-impact investments, Malaysia has achieved significant milestones in digital investments, amounting to RM185.3 billion from Google, Oracle, Nvidia, AWS and Microsoft where it is expected to generate 64,479 job opportunities," the prime minister said.
