PASIR PUTEH: A 33-year-old man died after he was believed to be electrocuted while unplugging a washing machine at his flooded home in Kampung Banir Belikong early today.
The body of Tuan Mohd Zakaria Tuan Ismail was found several metres from his home, caught in the branches of a tree.
Pasir Puteh Fire and Rescue Station operation commander Mohd Rukiman Abdul Rahman said the body was discovered by firefighters around 5.30am after they were called to the scene at 4.55am.
"According to the victim's family, he went at the back of the house to unplug the machine when he was electrocuted about 4.30am," he said.
He then fell into the floodwaters and was swept away by the current from a nearby river.
Firefighters later found his body trapped in tree branches.
The body was handed over to the police and sent to Pasir Puteh Hospital for a post-mortem.
