KOTA BARU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will announce the largest affordable housing project with an investment cost of RM13 billion next month.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the announcement will take place next month.
"If everything goes as planned, the prime minister will announce the largest affordable housing project with an investment of RM13 billion.
"This is a significant amount and reflects the commitment of the unity government to ensure all citizens can own a home," he said during a press conference after visiting the Siti Khadijah Market upgrading project here today.
"Of course, civil servants will not be left out, and they will also be given opportunities, especially those in need," he added.
Details of the project will be revealed following the prime minister's announcement.
Yesterday, reports revealed that 688,663 out of 1.3 million civil servants have yet to own a home, with the majority being from the implementation group.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek responded to a question in the Dewan Rakyat on behalf of the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa, that 431,277 of the civil servants are from the implementation group.
