KOTA BARU: Floods in Kelantan continue to worsen, displacing 17,016 people from 5,058 families across nine districts.
Only Gua Musang remains unaffected, while Pasir Mas has the highest number of evacuees at 5,270, followed by Pasir Puteh (1,938) and Tanah Merah (1,802).
Other affected districts include Kota Baru (1,750), Kuala Krai (1,736), Machang (1,448), Tumpat (1,372), Bachok (957), and Jeli (748).
Non-stop rain has pushed four rivers above their danger levels, including the Kuala Krai river (25.06m), Kok Lanas river (31.26m), and Machang river (19.84m).
The Golok river in Rantau Panjang (10.93m), Kemasin river in Bachok (9.91m), and Semerak river in Pasir Puteh (3.65m) have also surpassed their critical marks.
Additionally, eight rivers have reached alert levels, with low-lying areas in Pasir Mas and Rantau Panjang inundated by rising waters.
Emergency operations are underway, with 113 flood relief centres set up to shelter affected residents.
