IPOH: Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad announced that as of Nov 28 this year, the state government recorded total revenue and development receipts amounting to RM1.199 billion.
Saarani said that in 2020, the state government not only recorded a negative gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 2.4 per cent but was also on the brink of a crisis, with a deficit reaching RM78 million.
"Praise be to Allah, thanks to the hard work of the entire administrative machinery, Perak was able to rise again and get back on track towards progress.
"The state has recorded growth momentum for three consecutive years.
"After deficits of RM78 million and RM6.59 million in 2020 and 2021, we returned to recording surpluses for two consecutive years: RM29.6 million in 2022 and RM62.4 million in 2023 — the highest figures ever recorded.
"The state government's financial statement for 2023 showed a significant improvement in revenue collection, reaching RM1.2 billion, an increase of 10.97 per cent compared with 2022.
"And, praise be to Allah, due to prudent and responsible spending practices, the Auditor General's Report No. 3 for 2024 states that the Perak state government is among the five states to receive the Auditor General's Certificate of No Audit Comments for the State Government's Financial Statement for the year ending Dec 31, 2023," he added.
Saarani said that for this year, the state government had once again made history, as early as October, with Perak achieving a revenue collection of RM1 billion.
"Praise be to Allah, I am pleased to announce that on Nov 28, 2024, the state government successfully recorded total revenue collection and development receipts of RM1.199 billion.
"I am also grateful that the continuous efforts to implement people-centric infrastructure projects have received excellent cooperation from the federal government," he said.
