Bersatu's finances 'critical' as funds remain frozen, says Rina

SHAH ALAM: Bersatu's treasurer-general has warned that the party's finances are in a "critical" state as its bank accounts remain frozen by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

In her winding-up speech at Bersatu's annual general assembly, Datuk Seri Rina Harun said she would seek ways to resolve the issue.

She said the situation had made it challenging to organise party activities, particularly at the grassroots level.

"If we can help the party with our efforts, our love for Bersatu will grow even stronger," she told delegates at the assembly.

Rina also urged state and division-level treasurers to find ways to generate revenue for the party.

On Feb 1 last year, the MACC confirmed that Bersatu's accounts were frozen as part of investigations into the party's source of funds.

The probe was conducted under the MACC Act and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act.
