KOTA BARU: Flooding in Kelantan is gradually improving, with only a few rivers in the state exceeding their danger levels this morning, while others have shown a decrease in water levels.
As of 7.45am, the river in Rantau Panjang was measured at 9.68m, 0.68m above its danger mark of 9m. Meanwhile, another Golok river in Tumpat recorded 3.73m, 0.73m above its danger level of 3m.
The floods in Kelantan have claimed five lives so far, including that of a one-year-old boy.
Another river, the Kelantan River in Tanah Merah, was measured at 19.55m, 1.55m above its alert mark, while other rivers have begun to recede.
As of 7.45 am, the number of flood victims in Kelantan continues to decrease, with a total of 43,745 evacuees. The victims, from 13,999 families, are now sheltering at 96 flood relief centres across six districts.
Pasir Mas district recorded the highest number of victims, with 22,441, followed by Tumpat (20,556) and Kota Bharu (403). The other three districts affected were Bachok (243), Tanah Merah (55), and Pasir Puteh (47).
