SHAH ALAM: Malaysia and Indonesia are working together to advance sustainability and green product certification in the region.
This is made possible through a newly signed memorandum of understanding between Watermarks Certification (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and the Green Product Council Indonesia.
Watermarks Certification Malaysia managing director Mohd Shahrezal Mohd Ismail said the collaboration signified a shared commitment to promoting environmentally friendly practices and enhancing the quality of green-labelled products in both countries.
This partnership recognises the critical role of green label certification in promoting environmentally friendly practices in Malaysia's industries.
"This collaboration recognises the critical role of green label certification in supporting industries to offer sustainable, high-quality products. It is a step forward for the entire region," he said in his speech at the signing ceremony.
Companies in Malaysia would apply for a green label certificate from GPCI.
Products certified by GPCI's Green Label Indonesia gain measurable advantages, including increased market value, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
The certification spans various categories, from building materials to electronics, chemicals, and packaging, enabling companies to meet global eco-labelling standards.
The event also welcomed delegations from GPCI, including its chairman, Yudiyono; secretary-general Kevin Kowinto; and vice chief of operations Dahalan.
Shahrezal added that the agreement paves the way for enhancing research, innovation, and technology exchange in the green materials industry, particularly for building materials.
He expressed hope that the agreement would drive positive environmental impacts while boosting the competitive edge of local and regional products.
"This partnership is a testament to our shared dedication to quality and sustainability. By working together, we can inspire smarter choices for industries and consumers alike."
