KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, attended a Yasin recitation and tahlil ceremony in remembrance of the Tunku Laksamana of Johor, Almarhum Tunku Abdul Jalil, yesterday.
A post on the Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar Facebook page showed that the ceremony was also graced by Che' Puan Mahkota Khaleeda Johor, Tunku Panglima of Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman, and Tunku Putera of Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Al-Haj.
The ceremony was held at Masjid Tunku Laksamana Abdul Jalil at the Johor police contingent headquarters in Johor Baru, attended by around 500 guests, with the Yasin recitation and tahlil led by Johor Mufti Datuk Yahya Ahmad.
Almarhum Tunku Abdul Jalil, the fourth child of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, passed away on Dec 5, 2015, at the age of 25 after a 16-month battle with cancer.
During his lifetime, Almarhum Tunku Abdul Jalil served as a police officer with the Royal Malaysia Police, holding the rank of Inspector.-- BERNAMA
