Sultan Sharafuddin calls for swift resolution on footballer's acid attack case

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has called for a swift resolution to the case of the acid attack on Selangor FC player Muhammad Faisal Abdul Halim, urging authorities to identify those responsible quickly.

According to a report by The Star, Sultan Sharafuddin expressed his deep frustration over the delay in the investigation, emphasising that the case is "simple and clear cut."

"With social media and modern technology, you cannot hide anything. I followed the case in the state assembly and hope somehow this could be resolved soon.

"This is a clear-cut case and the incident has destroyed Muhammad Faisal's life."

Sultan Sharafuddin also called on the police to expedite the case investigation.

"He is a good player and I think he is a good guy, but I do not know for what reason he was attacked.

"The police must take quick action on this."

On May 5, 26-year-old Faisal Halim suffered fourth-degree burns on several parts of his body after being doused with acid by an unknown individual at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara and had to be treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for about 10 days.

He confirmed that the probe was never been halted, with police arresting three individuals and recording statements from 23 others.

However, no evidence has linked the suspects to the crime.
