Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds expected in several states

KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are forecast to affect several states and areas until 6pm today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In Kedah, Kuala Muda is expected to experience the severe weather, while in Perak, it will affect Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang, and Muallim.

Pahang's affected areas include Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Raub, Kuantan, and Pekan, while Selangor will see disruptions in Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, and Gombak.

In Sarawak, Samarahan (Simunjan), Betong (Pusa and Betong), Miri (Telang Usan and Marudi), and Limbang are under alert.

Sabah will also experience these conditions in Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan, Keningau, Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Kota Belud, Sandakan (Tongod), and Kudat.

The Federal Territory of Labuan is also affected.

"Warnings are issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour that are imminent or expected to last for more than an hour," MetMalaysia said in a Facebook post.
