SEREMBAN: The Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry, through its Ihsan
Madani Squad, has assessed the effectiveness of mobile pumps installed at tidal control
gates for flood preparedness in high-risk areas around Port Dickson.
In a statement, the ministry said three pumps have been installed in flood-prone areas in Tanjung Agas, Sungai Raya and Kampung Paya, and they have proven effective in reducing
flood risks.
It said the mobile pumps are designed to channel water out of flooded areas, expediting water recession.
The pumps at Tanjung Agas and Sungai Raya cover areas of one hectare each, benefiting 15
houses and 50 residents.
The pump at Kampung Paya covers three hectares, benefiting 50 houses and 200 residents, the statement added.
According to the ministry, a total of 284 mobile pumps are available nationwide.
Kampung Paya Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) chairman Vagidah
Rohiman M.S. Kader said the area had not experienced significant floods since 2021 with
the installation of a mobile pump.
Kampung Tanjung Agas JKKK chairman Hairi Dahalan said that the mobile pump had
not only helped villagers, but also minimised property damage caused by floods. — Bernama
