KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the government has always been committed to empowering Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The National TVET Committee chairman said empowering TVET was vital to meet the demands of the evolving industry and realise the country's aim to become a high-income nation.
"TVET not only opens up career opportunities, but also serves as a catalyst for national development," Zahid said in his speech at the 14th Ketengah College convocation today.
He expressed appreciation to the college for offering TVET and skills and career training programmes.
He congratulated the 265 Diploma in Early Childhood Education graduates for completing their studies.
The college was also praised for producing 1,557 graduates since 2015, which he believed served a crucial role in shaping a knowledgeable generation.
Zahid reminded the college to maintain and enhance its high teaching and learning quality to cope with current needs.
"The curriculum should be constantly reviewed and improved to align with the needs of the industry and economy."
He believed the college had a clear vision for academic excellence and developing the nation's human capital, particularly in facing global challenges as well as technological development.
