KUALA LUMPUR: The cost to perform haj for the 1446H/2025 season will remain at RM33,300 per person.
Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) Syed Hamadah Syed Othman said B40 'muassasah' pilgrims will have their fees subsidised by 55 per cent or RM18,300, with an additional RM1,000 financial aid from the government.
This means that B40 pilgrims would need to pay RM15,000 to perform their haj pilgrimage.
He also said TH would subsidise 29 per cent (RM9,800) of haj cost for pilgrims in the M40 group, with pilgrims having to pay RM23,500.
Pilgrims in the T20 group would have to pay the full haj fees of RM33,300.
"Haj financial assistance for this haj season is estimated at RM261 million, bringing the cumulative total to over RM2.8 billion over 25 years," he said at a press conference here, today.
The haj payment for 2025 for B40 and M40 'muassasah' pilgrims is an increase of 20 per cent, due to an increase in accommodation, flights and service charges in the Holy Land.
To curb rising costs, Syed Hamadah said TH had taken various measures including securing long-term flight contracts.
Last year, B40 pilgrims had to fork out RM12,356, while M40 pilgrims had to pay RM19,152.
All pilgrims who are not performing their haj for the first time would have to bear the full cost.
Those who make an appeal to go for haj this year would also have to pay the full amount.
Syed Hamadah said TH would start issuing offer letters to 31,600 selected prospective haj pilgrims in stages starting today.
He also said Malaysia had asked for an increase in the yearly haj quota, but had not received a response from the Saudi Arabia government.
"We have not received any reply from the Saudi government on this.
"Insya-Allah, we will keep trying to apply for an additional quota," he added.
