KUALA PILAH: The Negri Sembilan state government has no plans to organise a New Year's Eve celebration for 2025, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
He said the decision was made to honour the flood victims across the country, including those in Negri Sembilan, while also aiming to prevent unnecessary waste and demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinian people, who continue to face oppression by Israel.
"However, it remains at the discretion of non-governmental organisations or private sector groups, as they may organise events, such as modest celebrations with fireworks, to attract tourists," he added.
"InsyaAllah, as in previous years, individuals can gather in mosques and suraus for special prayers and Yasin recitation," he said, after distributing aid to flood victims in the Kuala Pilah district here yesterday.
In a separate matter, Aminuddin, who is also the Negri Sembilan PKR Leadership Council chairman, said the party elections are expected to be held before June next year, in accordance with the guidelines set by the Central Leadership Council.
Yesterday, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim called for the elections to be expedited to ensure a smooth leadership transition, in line with democratic principles, and to include both new and experienced leaders.-- BERNAMA
