KUCHING: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), through the Unimas Entrepreneurship Center (UEC), has been selected as a strategic partner of e-Entrepreneurship Hub by the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
The university, in a statement today, stated that the matter was announced in conjunction with the closing of the #UNIMASpreneur 2024 Carnival held at the university last Dec 14.
It said the designation of UEC as an e-Entrepreneurship Hub aims to enhance the MDEC e-Entrepreneurship ecosystem, fostering the involvement of community entrepreneurs at Unimas in digital entrepreneurship.
"Apart from the commitment given by Unimas, the strategic location is also a key factor in Unimas being selected as one of the e-Business Hub networks.
"Through this recognition, all information about training and programmes organised by MDEC will be channelled to Unimas as a network hub.
"Therefore, students and local community entrepreneurs can get information, advice and guidance related to digital entrepreneurship at Unimas," read the statement.
At the same event on Dec 14, Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd (PUNB) also announced a strategic collaboration with UEC for the implementation of the 2024 Uni-Challenge Programme, which is an initiative to foster entrepreneurial talent at an early stage, especially among university students.
"This programme provides students the opportunity to create innovative ideas in entrepreneurship while getting direct guidance from industry experts," it said.
