Flickering lights in drain lead to discovery of missing man's body

PARIT BUNTAR: The mystery of flickering lights in a drain at Parit Abas, Kuala Kurau, Parit Buntar, led to the discovery of a man's body reported missing yesterday evening.

The victim's brother, Shahrol Nizam Sabli, said Rosdi Sabli, who was in his 30s and mute, was found in the drain alongside his motorcycle at around 8pm yesterday.

Shahrol said the victim left his home in Parit Abas at 3.30pm and headed towards Kuala Kurau town but did not return home by Maghrib (around 7pm).

"Every day, he would stay home and go to the surau at 6.30pm to wait for Maghrib prayers.

"Family members and residents searched for him yesterday evening but could not locate him.

"It was only at 8pm that the residents spotted his motorcycle in the drain.

"Upon further inspection by the Kuala Kurau Fire and Rescue team, the victim was found near his motorcycle.

"The firemen retrieved the body and handed the remains to the police for further action," Shahrol said.

He said they did not rule out the possibility that the victim experienced a seizure while riding his motorcycle.

"The victim had a history of epilepsy, and just yesterday morning, he collapsed at a restaurant here, likely due to a seizure.

"Although he had experienced seizures many times before, we never expected something like this to happen," he said.

The victim's body has been taken to Parit Buntar Hospital by the police for further investigation.
