[UPDATED] 5 newborns bring joy to New Year's Day at HCTM

KUALA LUMPUR: New Year's Day at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM was marked by the birth of five babies — three girls and two boys.

Among the proud mothers was Sitty Noor Aishah Mohd Rezuan, a former healthcare worker, who delivered a baby boy at 3.15pm.

"Alhamdulillah, I'm grateful to Allah. Today is also the first day of Rejab. The date is beautiful. His sister was born on Dec 12," she told the New Straits Times.

Her original labour date was Jan 9, but she went to the hospital early as doctors told her she was in the early stages of labour.

"Yesterday, the doctor admitted me because they saw I was dilated enough.

"So at 7am this morning, the doctor induced me and I gave birth at 3.15pm."

Sitty Noor Aishah said she was happy, but also a little sad as her husband could not be with her as he is serving the country in Lahad Datu, Sabah.

"He was stationed at Port Dickson, then he was posted to Sabah. So he couldn't be with me when I was giving birth."

On her hopes for the year ahead, Sitty Noor Aishah said: "I hope Allah will make things easier for everyone this year.

"Because, like birth, it's all a matter of time. I hope Allah eases things for me and my family."
