Malaysia launches special 'FG' registration plate series

PUTRAJAYA: Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced Putrajaya's special registration plate number series 'FG' in conjunction with the opening of the new Putrajaya Road Transport Department office.

He said the bidding for the plate starts today (Jan 2) and runs until Jan 6, and it is a continuation of the 'F' series introduced yearly by RTD.

"This initiative will not only increase RTD's revenue but also provide an opportunity for the ownership of special numbers," Loke said during the launching ceremony.

In May last year, the "FFF" special plate number was introduced by RTD as part of the 'F' series.

Malaysians have a strong affinity for owning fancy number plates, often bidding enthusiastically for unique and personalised registration numbers.

Also present were the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, and Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah.

Loke also said that road users can pay their summons easily through the MyJPJ application.

"RTD needs to continue adapting to technological developments and the future needs of the public," he said.
