LANGKAWI: A total of 7,361 tourists visited Langkawi on the first day of Visit Kedah Year 2025 yesterday.
Of this number, 1,056 visitors arrived by passenger and passenger-vehicle ferries, while 4,486 travelled by air.
Ferry Line Ventures Sdn Bhd operations manager Norhafiz Abdul Wahid said 763 passengers arrived via five ferry trips from Kuala Kedah, beginning at 11.30am.
"Another 1,056 passengers arrived via five ferry trips from Kuala Perlis, starting as early as 11am," he added.
"There were no night trips for both routes yesterday."
Langkawi Port Sdn Bhd general manager Muhd Nasir Abdul Aziz confirmed that 1,056 passengers arrived at Dermaga Tanjung Lembung on passenger-vehicle ferries.
"Five ferries operated yesterday from Kuala Perlis, namely Langkawi Auto Express, Langkawi RoRo, My RoRo, Wantas RoRo,and Dibuk," he said.
Langkawi International Airport manager Che Sulaiman Che Pa said 4,486 tourists landed at the airport yesterday, with the earliest flight arriving at 8.06am.
"Overall, we managed 23 incoming flights yesterday, comprising domestic arrivals from Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Subang, as well as international flights from Bengaluru, India, and Singapore," he said.
